MERMAID

Innovative Multi-purpose Off-shore Platforms: Planning, Design and Operation – aims at developing novel innovative design concepts for offshore platforms to address different physical conditions (from deep water to shallow and inner waters) in order to make the best use of the ocean space. Launched in January 2012 for 3 years, MERMAID gathers 28 partners from 13 countries, under the coordination of DanmarksTekniskeUniversitet (Denmark).

TROPOS

The TROPOS Project aims at developing a floating modular multi-use platform system for use in deep waters, with an initial geographic focus on the Mediterranean, Tropical and Sub-Tropical regions, but designed to be flexible enough so as to not be limited in geographic scope. TROPOS gathers 20 partners from 9 countries (Spain, the United Kingdom, Germany, Portugal, France, Norway, Denmark, Greece and Taiwan)

H2OCEAN

H2OCEAN is a project aimed at developing an innovative design for an economically and environmentally sustainable multi-use open-sea platform. Wind and wave power will be harvested and part of the energy will be used for multiple applications on-site, including the conversion of energy into hydrogen that can be stored and shipped to shore as green energy carrier and a multi-trophic aquaculture farm.

MARIBE

The objectives of MARIBE are to: identify opportunities for Blue Growth sectors to cooperate with other sectors via multi-use of space or in multi-use platforms and assist in the development of the most promising project combinations; provide information on the socio-economic context and the key technical and non-technical challenges facing these projects based in part on lifecycle learning, and; use the MARIBE consortium’s diverse network to introduce project stakeholders to key advisors and potential investors.
